Hello! As a self published writer (really anyone can self publish, but I take great pride in my work) I wanted to start a little blog to keep in touch with basically anyone who enjoys my stories and of course as a way for me put my thoughts out there. I'm Cassie, I started writing when I was 12 years old, that love of words grew into a love of romance novels as I got older and then ultimately a love of erotica. So let me tell you the story of my first publication.
I've been writing FOREVER, I have dozens of stories, dozens of manuscripts and plot outlines, character ideas, I have it all. I've written everything from extremely bad poetry to erotica to romantic comedy and even one drama novel that is written in the form of letters. I may publish that at some point it's just a matter of formatting it and re-reading through, but this post is about Sugar.
I actually wrote Sugar the first time as a 1 page story; like most of my scenes it was quick. It came while I had been sitting at a stop light watching a cop walk up to a car. There was something about that piece that spoke to me, so I took it a step further, expanded on it, added a bit more characterization. And then I flipped the script, I wanted her to take control, and when I did...it was perfect. I had written Rock the Boat as a separate story, but the characters fit together, I wanted sisters. So you have my two sisters with two seemingly different lives both meeting their match with very very hot results.
After writing it, the story sat on my hard drive for three years. Literally, it just sat there. Last year on my birthday I promised myself by the time I turned 33, I would be published on some platform, be it paperback or ebook. I just wanted to see my name on a book, I wanted someone other then me and a few select friends to read my point of view.
So three hours before my 33rd birthday on June 21st, I submitted it to Amazon. And it went live on my birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
The moral of this story is to always do what you want, if you make a promise to yourself, follow through. My book may not be long, it may not be the next Great American Novel (unless the next Great American Novel had sex, and got tied to a bed?), but I write me. I just hope you all enjoy it as much as I!
Awesome!! You did a great job!!
